ColWeld Systems

The equipment has been designed with the user in mind - to make welding as easy and as efficient as possible.  We have two main products:

ColWeld I

ColWeld I is our entry level cobot welding system and has a fixed cobot that is mounted on a 2.4x1 m table. The system has a control panel at the front with emergency stop and pause buttons and is designed to facilitate manufacture with two workstations to maximise productivity.  It is supplied with the ColWeld software and has various additional features which are described below.

ColWeld II is our premium product with a 3 m long Rexroth track with ABB servo drive. The travel is 2.6 m, which significantly extends the range and capability of the cobot operation. If welding is done off-table this provides the potential to weld parts that are 5 m in length. The system is fully customisable and can be extended or shortened according to your individual needs. The software for operating the track is fully integrated with the welding software and is explained here.

Equipment and Features

Universal Robot UR10e

Universal Robots are the number one brand in collaborative robots and ColWeld uses a UR10/UR10e robot with a reach of 1.3 m. Collaborative robots monitor both the force and speed and stop the robot on impact. The key advantage of ColWeld is the URCAP software that makes the cobot easier to use and program.

EWM Phoenix 355

ColWeld is equipped with a high quality German EWM power supply as standard and the system comes preprogramed with a range of standard weld types for steel (flat and vertical), stainless steel and aluminium. Other power supplies can be provided on request.  It is supplied on a hinge for easy changing of the wire spool.

Water Cooled Torch with Teach Buttons

The system has a water-cooled torch and buttons for assisting programming: '1' puts the system into Freedrive mode; '2' adds a weld point and '3' adds a preliminary point. It also has buttons for extending the wire and purging the shielding gas.

Table labelling and spatter tray

A table with a grid of φ 16mm holes that can be used with the modular fixturing kit for clamping parts.  Each row and column are labelled (rows are numbered 1-8 and columns are labelled A to V) so that clamp positions can be recorded for reusing programs.  Spatter trays are mounted underneath each side of the table and keep the shelf underneath clean. They slide out for cleaning.
